Make Your Work Come to You
Most neck pain sufferers will tell you their neck and upper back pain begins or gets worse when they are reading or writing at their desks. This is due to the fact that when you read, your eyes want to be perpendicular (at a 90-degree angle) to your work surface. In order to achieve this, you must bend your neck and upper back forward, hanging your head over your work.
A simple and extremely affective solution is to lift your work up at an angle towards your eyes, saving you the need to bend so far forward. A visual perpendicular reading/writing position can now be obtained by simply leaning slightly forward from your hips towards your angled work station, rather than bending from your spine.
This is one of the first ergonomic considerations I discuss with each of my neck pain patients. So much relief can be had from a simple work surface modification! While a temporary fix can be had using an empty three inch ring binder as a podium, this is often limited in its effectiveness. For this reason, I am offering one of the market’s least expensive and most versatile slant boards. This particular slant board, in addition to being one of the least costly on the market, has some very important features:
1) Sturdy, non-breakable construction.
2) Adjustable angled height (from 0-80º) to meet the needs of varied individuals.
3) A padded shelf along the bottom edge which keeps your books and papers from sliding, while at the same time providing comfort if the board is used for writing purposes.
These black, metal slant boards are available in 9 x 11 inch, 20 x 11 inch or 20 x 15 inch dimensions and they all come with the padded wrist support. They were a real neck saver for me as I was proofreading my manuscripts! I’m confident they will provide you with real “night and day” results if you are plagued by neck pain when performing “head-down”, desk top activities.
NOTE: These are custom manufactured as they are ordered. Please allow 7-10 days for manufacture and up to 5 for shipping.
